Fall is slipping past us so quickly! How is Thanksgiving next week? I don't know about you, but this time of year I hold many complex emotions. While I love the time off and spending time with family eating Salvadoran Turkey or Panes con pollo, I also hold deep pain for the genocide of our native population. Dr. Eduardo Duran talks about this deep pain among Natives as the "soul wound." And I feel that resonate so deeply, especially these days with the violent and traumatic detainment of immigrants, and specifically the targeting of Latinx people. I feel the pain of my people and those who help them. So I hold the duality of these emotions. I spoke about this with my therapist comadre and amiga, Adriana Rodriguez, LMFT after she reached out to me in despair. I'd be honored if you gave it a listen, especially if you're feeling the soul wound as deeply as we are.

Hire me as a TrainerI am embracing my role as a trainer and speaker. Many don't know this, but I had a big fear of public speaking due to harm caused by a teacher in elementary school (I found this out during my own EMDR therapy and worked through it). I've done a lot of healing work to resolve this and I'm happy to say that I'm comfortable in my speaker role now. I know myself, what I bring to the table and topic, and I am happy to pass on all the knowledge of my 17+ years in the mental health field. I train from a trauma and BIPOC lens. My biggest strength is that I make mental health topics relatable and digestible. I've been flexing this muscle early on since I was a child therapist. My motto is, "if you can teach it to a child, you can teach it to anyone of any age!" Check out my Speaker Sheet below and let's talk! Lately, I've been honored and humbled by therapists who have advocated to their agencies to bring me over to train their entire teams. And in 2026, I want to do more of it. I'm note gatekeeping these essential skills.

Ok amiguis, Thank you so much for reading this far. I hope that you're taking care of yourself, or plan for some deep rest and restoration this holiday season. A reminder I have to constantly pull up for myself is that "I am my next big project" especially as it relates to my wellness. |

So many of us are sitting with clients who carry racism in their bodies. There's the client who stopped sleeping after the raids started in her neighborhood. There's the one who smiles through every meeting at work and then comes to session unable to say why he's so tired. Or like my neighbor's compadre, the one who is undocumented and is no longer able to do meet ups for pizza in the neighborhood -- for fear that he might get deported. Most of our training never gave us language for this,...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I hope that you're tending to your mental health in the best way. I've been tending to my mental health by getting massages! May has been busy with events, talks, and project deadlines for me. Which means that I've been on the computer A LOT. I have so much tension in my neck and shoulders... and even in my calves and thighs. Pretty much everywhere. Yesterday I had my 3rd weekly massage and many parts of it were painful and other parts totally...
